Birthday girl

Birthday girl

Today is my 30th birthday! I haven’t been this excited since my 8th birthday and I received a Baby Born doll I really wanted. It’s the only thing I remember from that day too, it seems significant right now. I wanted to write a blog post about all the horrible birthday memories I have. I changed my mind. Yes, I feel sad today. That is probably why I wanted to write about it. Instead, I want to let you know 30 true facts about me. Share the gifts I bought for myself  and what I plan to do today.

Let me start with my plans for today. I am a buddy to an 11 year old girl. We met a little over a year ago. She reminds me a lot about myself when I was 11. We both made a lot of progress this past year. We have a “Pancake house” here in my city, it’s a pancake restaurant. I haven’t been there since I was a child and today I will take her there. When I get back home I will start to read my new book “It didn’t start with you”.

The book “It didn’t start with you” is important to me, that’s why I bought it as a birthday gift to myself. I don’t want to pretend on my birthday any more. I am both happy and sad at the same time. I hope this book will lead me to a much better understanding about the inherited trauma that runs in my family. To read more about this book, Click here. It’s also one of my Book recommendations.

I also bought

  • Ecoline brushpens
  • Large waterbrush
  • 100 sheets of A5 watercolour paper
  • watercolour brushes

Since I rediscovered my love for watercolours and drawing, this was important. I bought gifts for both my adult self and my child self. It’s an important step in my recovery.
